Met a girl over a dating app and we have been talking for a few weeks. Long distance and obviously the lock downs don't lend itself to meeting up so we have kept it to phone conversations which is cool. There has been a moderate amount of flirting and I have enjoyed it, but it seemed like neither of us want to move it to anything overtly sexual at this point. After a few weeks she texts me slightly inebriated and it turns very flirtatious. I was completely sober and know the ethical implications of provoking someone while they aren't sober. I wanted to play a more conservative role, while still letting the person enjoy themselves, because they were more than coherent enough to text so I would lean in a little but never push it past just lighthearted flirting/compliments. I would think this is a good balance? I mean I wouldn't want to be a downer and push away the advances outright, but I also would never have attempted to get somewhere that was past what I would do had they been 100 percent sober. When attempting to slow the conversation down they became upset and it has made me question which way this could have played out better.
