Apparently, I'm an attractive guy. I find this out by way of friends' mothers or middle-aged women. "That attractive friend of yours". Older women reference it indirectly as if it goes without saying all the time. But when it comes to women my own age I feel like the ugliest man alive.
Women my own age are incredibly serious and stoic. Very short and to-the-point. So it's not hard to see why a guy like me might assume that, uhh, I don't know, these women hate me. At the very least it would be very reasonable to assume that they're not particularly fond of me or interested in getting to know me.
So why is it… Whenever I flirt with women… Suddenly, it's okay for them to flirt back and show interest. Suddenly, it's okay for them to not suffer from resting bitch face. Suddenly, it's okay for women to give me their numbers. Suddenly, it's okay for them to be civil and acknowledge me in passing.
I'm sorry if this is triggering for some of you, but the fact remains that for me all women my age act like they hate my guts until I start to flirt with them and give them attention. And I just find this so incredibly ironic. All of a sudden, that girl I thought hated me is acting overly familiar with me, giggling, and acting like she's known me for years. Saying things she'd never have dared to say to me had I not decided to flirt with her and express interest.
And that's the thing: women all superficially treat me coldly until I flirt with them.
