Will he come back?

I (24F) walked away from a guy (27) who couldn’t commit after dating for several months. He told me that he still has emotional baggage from his last breakup he said he knows this will end badly too. When our conversation ended he said “maybe we’ll see each other again sometime” and I said “yeah maybe, if you decide you want to move forward.” Do guys ever come back if they realize they’re ready? I know that’s not the right attitude to have and I should just move on… but I really have strong feelings for this guy.
