Hey,
I recently met this girl during quarantine on an online dating app. We had some good conversation, eventually exchanged numbers, and texted back/fourth for a couple hours the first time we texted (which was on a weekend). Later in the middle of the week, we traded a few messages but nothing heavy because she is a nurse who works overnights during the week. On Sunday of the same week, I hit her up to see if she was free to talk on the phone. She is self-quarantined because she is a nurse so she was hanging with other nurse friends she works with but she actually made time to talk on the phone with me the same night. We talked from around ~12:30AM-2AM before she went to bed.
Here is where I made some mistakes. I texted her once I woke up that Monday to joke about my personality coming over better in person vs on phone but she never responded. Wednesday I double texted her just to see how her week was going (the same thing I did the week before) but she also never responded to this message. Lastly, Friday afternoon when she had still not responded back I messaged again and basically questioned if she is still interested/etc (which in my thinking would give her an out if she was no longer interested after speaking on the phone but just didn't know how to approach the topic). She apologized, said she had been crazy busy with work/family, stated that "it's not that I'm not interested, I just can't be 100% there at this time." I took this as the truth in this special case with her being a nurse who actually works in an ICU unit (although cases aren't too crazy or anything she has said where we live). I messaged her back "No worries, it's understandable with everything that's going on. I'll hit you up in a month or so/you can hit me up later when things calm down a bit. Stay safe." I feel like I might have jumped the gun a bit and cooled things all the way down when she just wanted to communicate she doesn't have time to text during the week. This past week, I hit her up I believe Tuesday to wish her a happy national nurse's day which she thanked me for. I didn't want to push an actual convo so I didn't message anything after that.
Would you guys say I am a fool to believe she is actually just crazy busy or is my gut feeling of her being truthful with everything going on maybe correct? I feel like I should give her some space for the time being. I did mention video chatting when we spoke on the phone which she sounded also interested in. I know I should wait and see if she hits me up more, but I have been thinking in a week or two I could reach out to her to video chat to keep some type of connection. But I'll just avoid the texting during the week with her crazy schedule. I'm afraid of just waiting for things to calm down and by the time I hit her up in a month or so like I initially said it may be a lost cause.
