I work at a university, plus see heaps of Reddit posts from teens and college-age people… One thing I keep hearing from that population is that they’ve concluded they will die alone because of some absence or other in their dating history (never been kissed/never had an SO/never had sex/etc).
It’s surprising to me, and my question is –
Where do today’s young adults get the idea that they’ll never have love or have dating success if it didn’t come before they finished being a teenager? Were they told they won’t live past age 23? ?
The other question is how long has this belief been around in teens/young adults? Twenty years ago, I wasn’t hearing of it.
