A girl I’m talking to is upset because of the way I described one girl from my past. Should I apologize even though I don’t feel like I did something wrong?

I described the girl as "very beautiful" and she is upset with that. She says that I should have called her just "beautiful". And she feels like I'm still in awe with that girl, even though that's not the case. I just wanted to share with her how I felt about her many years ago. It doesn't mean I feel the same way right now. I like her very much, we've been on a date recently and it went well. I don't feel like I did something wrong but I do understand how she might have felt. Should I apologize? I just want this problem gone and don't want it to spoil the things between us. But at the same time I don't want to be the one apologizing for everything in the future if we start dating.
