Why has ghosting become the norm and being honest with someone now is the harder route to take?

It seems the younger generations have gotten comfortable with not responding and ignoring someone, thinking they’re letting the person down easier rather than just telling them what’s on their mind.

How did it get to this point, and why do people actually do this/think it’s a better way for rejection?

To me, it makes someone feel worse because they aren’t given any kind of explanation or closure.

How to give a girl (24F) space to get over ex but still show I’m interested?

Howdy, thanks for reading and hopefully responding.

So I went out with a girl after a week of messaging her through Hinge. We made dinner together at my place, had a couple bottles of wine and started having serious convo about what we look for in a relationship. Exes were brought up (her part mainly). They dated for 2 years and broke up within the past 3-4 months.

Not fully realizing this in the moment, after a bit she gave me a sign to make a move. I did, and things led to the bedroom. Looking back, I regret letting it go that far.

Next day she texts me saying she felt guilty and upset about what happened. That she thought she was over her ex and ready to move on, but now needed time to finish healing and wanted to stay friends with me.

I had an emotional connection with this girl (she agreed as well) and don’t want to give up on it, but I also don’t want to be the rebound/friend-zoned shoulder to cry on.

I figured I’d be ghosted after this, but she still snapchats me occasionally and are best friends on the app, no texting.

How do I give her space to move on from this guy but still be present enough for her to know I am interested?
