Asking someone out

I’m from the US and new to the dating game and was wondering what I’m (18M) supposed to say when asking someone out. (She’s 17F if that matters) Should I be direct and off the bat say something like “Hey, I like you. Do you want to go out with me?” Am I suppoed to build it up and drop a cheesy one liner? Maybe something along the lines of “Hey, do you wanna do x on this day?” I’m feeling overwhelmed (maybe I’m overthinking it).

TLDR; What am I supposed to say when asking someone out?

How do I go about this?

I (18M) really like this girl (17F) that I used to have class with, but I’m kind of in a dilemma. I’m heading off to Uni this coming fall (Covid permitting) and don’t know how to hold a LDR. I also don’t want to have a relationship if it impedes her with senior year being busy with everything from college apps to graduation shennanigans. Also super inexperienced, like first relationship inexperienced and pretty introverted.

So I guess what I want to know is: 1. Do I say screw it and ask her out? 2. How does one even go about asking another out. in this social situation (Covid)? 3. How (or just tips) do I get over my social awkwardness and general introverted personality? 4. If things go well (fingers crossed!), how do I keep a LDR for possibly 4 years of uni?
