Another advice that can apply to many:

If you waste your life spending time with people who you give what they want and who don’t give you what you truly want, you’ll grow up to become a resentful self hating, and women/men hating being. Her/his kind will be all you’ll know and all that will guide your views of wo/men. Instead of thinking about how you messed up and let yourself stay in these situations, you’ll likely blame wo/men either in their entirety, or largely as being this or that: I’ve seen it happen way too many times. Wo/men ranting about how they are “nice guys/ladies” who always get played. When in fact, most times I’d say it’s a case of them continuing to allow themselves to stay in these circles over and over again: hoping that the nicer they are to the

(I use “devil” somewhat loosely here, sometimes a person might not even be it. Just that they don’t feel the same and the “nice guy/lady” continues to stick around trying to on some level change them or wait for a change)

“devil” that the “devil” will one day wake up and realize how “nice” their partner is. Being nice isn’t just about what how we are to others, it’s also how we are to ourselves. You can’t be abandoning being nice to yourselves enough to not allow yourselves to stay in toxic and one sided connections: while expecting better from others, it starts with you to be nice to yourself.

Don’t act like a metaphorically speaking: a trash bag, a punching bag, and expect people to treat you like a queen/king/teddy bear. People who are out to victimize you, yes they are despicable. However what are YOU going to do to help YOUrselves to not continue to be their source of so and so when they don’t deserve it from you given the dynamic you two are in? Next time you think of waiting around, being nicer, yadyada being the solution, I think you’ve better luck going up to a tree treating it nicely and hoping it’ll grow money for you. There might be exceptions with specific background stories whether deep down they are good or not. However I’m speaking about the rule here.

Have better standards for yourselves, and most of all don’t lie to yourselves about the mess you are making in your life. Take time to recognize, learn from it, and take responsibility for it.

Be(come) better, seek better, pursue better.

What are you thoughts?

I saw a handful of posts that this can apply to:

So I figure I make my response into a new post. I’ve come across like a handful in the minutes I’ve been here that essentially say “we’ve spoke everyday, things were great, but nowadays things seem boring, how do I fix this”.

Here is my advice. Let me know yours and your thoughts.

I think the issue is more about you both investing in each other too much especially, too early and less about not being interesting. Give space, even when you feel the urge to talk like everyday, wait a day here, talk, another wait there, 2 days speaking, a day not, two days not. If you always reply fast, think about whether or not you’re dropping “everything” for this person, and remember that sometimes it’s okay to continue doing what you’re doing and reply a bit later. An hour later, two, whatever necessary, and switch that up too. Be careful to not make things sooooo predictable, to not always prioritize them, and also be aware of the context! For example don’t go off for days, hours, etc., not talking when s/he’s talking about a sensitive subject like if s/he found out her/his grandma is sick or something. Those times are the times that’s best to invest a bit more though still careful not to do too much even then. Even when living together (supposing it isn’t corona time) and in a serious relationship, when at home together talk normally as necessary. Though don’t become couch potatoes, either. Get out and about together. Being interesting is a process, it takes work, it’s like a phone battery that you can’t use while charging, you need time to recharge it. Which means some time away from each other doing your own things, following your passions. Taking time to get in touch with the “me, myself, and I”.

I think becoming overly dependent on each other is also part of the reason why some feel too hurt when breakups happen, that they feel they can not face singlehood again. Even though they probably were single for months or years and were doing just fine. Though because they let themselves forget to take time for themselves they forget their power. And at times not taking time for yourselves can actually be what breaks y’all or puts you on a rocky journey. I’m not saying to play games. Though (I’m saying this from a kind place) don’t forget to have a life, of your own.
