To preface this, I am aware that:
- You are at work and are being nice because it’s your job.
- it’s work, not your free time, you’re not there to be hit on.
- *All of the other reasons people have said they don’t enjoy being hit on at work*
I’m not here asking if there is a right way to be rude to the customers behind me and waste your time making you feel uncomfortable, I don’t do any of that.
However, I have had some moderate success asking out women in service due to rather specific circumstances or actions. For example:
- One girl at a drive-thru I frequented because it was on my way to work and I would chat here and there and after about a month of chatting I finally asked for her number. Obviously this worked because I was not some random guy hitting on her but we had been building a rapport for weeks.
- I simply told the girl as she handed me my receipt “I know you’re at work and I don’t want to bother you, but I think you’re really cute and if you’d be okay with me buying you coffee some time, here’s my number.” Which I had already written down so as not to take up more of her time, after which I just smiled and left. We only went on the one date, but still.
These are also the ONLY times I’ve asked out anyone who was at work. I’m pretty socially awkward and I don’t ask people on dates very often as it is.
So my question, reiterated, is simply: Are there RIGHT ways or circumstances in which people can ask you out in the work place? (preferably without having been a repeat customer for a month+, since at that point being at work or not sort of stops being a factor).
