Is 20-29 a good dating age range for me?

Warning: This post may or may not anger some people. Please note, that this is completely unintentional. I am not looking to get a rise out of anyone. I am just being brutally honest with what I'm feeling, and I am looking for some helpful advice.

I'm 26M with zero dating experience, and I figured a good dating range is about 20-29. Why that age range. Well, I'm not too stuck on it. I mean I might date a 19 year old if we have enough in common (ideally at least a sophomore in college, because dating someone right out of high school has some implications for someone my age). And I might date a 30 year old as long as she's not one of those high-maintenance, "date for marriage", "looking for the father of my future children", types. I mean not all 30 year olds are like that of course. Obviously I can't date under 19, because that's creepy (and illegal). And I'm not sure I should date women over 30, because they are usually looking to settle down and start a family.

I know there's the whole "half your age plus 7" rule, which would make my dating range 20-38. But given what I'm looking for, I think it's best to cut off at 30 at the oldest. Some might get pissed at me, but I feel that dating a woman that's over 30 is overkill. And 35+ is OUT OF THE QUESTION as far as relationships go. I mean I might do like a hookup/one night stand thing with women in their 30's, but a relationship would probably not work, as they usually want to "settle down". So I figured 20-29 is the safest dating range (though I am open to dating 19 and 30 year olds, if we connect well together). Because I am looking to date, but not "date for marriage" or "dating to settle". So, is 20-29 a good dating range? Or am I wrong to feel the way that I do?
