It happens enough here on reddit that whenever I browse some posters or commenters profiles here on the dating subreddits or in the r4r subreddits, it's not uncommon to also find posts of them under NSFW subreddits like the Gone Wild subs. In the Gone Wild subreddits, there's often posts by people who have met their partners because of their posts. It's an atypical way to meet, but at the same time, it's almost envious seeing two people met by going the reverse route of seeing each other nude first, and THEN getting to know each other and forming a connection.
On proper dating apps, it's also pretty common that real, local profiles put their Instagram names somewhere in there, and then you go to their profiles, and it's filled with thirst traps or even just regular clothed (yet) attractive pictures of them to help bolster their matches. It sounds like a lot more people are using things like Instagram in this way to meet people. In that regard, it's starting to feel overwhelming how much we are expected to share of ourselves in order to potentially get a date.
Questions:
- How does everyone here personally feel about this?
- Has anyone here met someone who they later discovered posted nudes or thirst traps online?
- Is it just normal to expect that the average single person using online to meet people is also juggling an amateur porn following?
- Have you or would you consider doing this if it resulted in meeting someone?
