We all know how much of a shit show it all is nowadays where you can’t even get a date anymore before being ghosted. When’s the last time anyone ever had a conversation off a dating app that didn’t end up being disappointing in some shape or form? I really can’t remember any on my end. I’m constantly disappointed in the results of my best efforts. I’m not meeting any single people in my daily life either anymore. And forget sex and hookups — Everyone’s having them apparently, but for me, it has never even been a remote possibility for a long, long time.
And then there’s the pandemic, and how it’s put our dating lives on hold. Even if our starts start re-opening, it’s not like we can date normally anymore, and a lot of people have told me that they will be so much more selective about dates going forward for that reason.
Above all, I feel defeated. I’ve thrown all I’ve had into dating, and between life not presenting options and dating apps being a huge energy and soul-sucking endeavor, it has killed me.
