She wants to focus on school. I need advice.

Basically, there’s a girl I asked out 2 years ago and she rejected me politely. I respected her decision and kept my distance, but we were still cordial in person (we have classes together).

A few months ago, she started messaging me a lot more frequently and I asked her if her feelings changed about us, and she said she thinks they did and she was open to the idea of dating.

We agreed to go on a date, and on the date, she said she’s never been in a relationship before or even dated and was even nervous holding hands.

We had a good time, however, the day after she gave me the “She’s not ready for a relationship” and wants to focus on school.

I’m not mad at her at all, but I feel if she was really interested in me, she would’ve said yes to another date? Also moving forward, I’ve decided to keep my distance and will be cordial if she initiates anything.

Any advice?

TLDR: After one date with a friend who rejected me 2 years ago, she said she’s not interested in a relationship & wants to focus on school. Advice?

I got rejected twice by the same girl 2 years apart.

First time I asked her out, she said she wasn’t looking for a relationship 2 years ago

We were still cordial with each other and kept in touch randomly here and there, and around 2 years later, she told me she’s open to the possibility of dating and might have feelings for me

We agreed to go on a date – however, during the date, she kind of realized that she wasn’t comfortable with touch including holding hands, etc. and told me afterwards she doesn’t think she can start a new relationship in her last year of her Masters. We had good conversations for about 3 hours including about what we’re looking for in the future etc.

I’ll be going back to dating apps and be cordial but keep my distance. She said she’ll be in a better place when she’s finished her Masters and she knows I’m not going to be waiting for her as I’m on dating apps. Also, she’s never dated before or had a relationship as she’s focused on school.

I’m happy I got this answer though because I would’ve been thinking “what if” otherwise. However, if she was to come around in a few months/next year asking me to try again – I’m not sure what I would do. Any advice?

TLDR: Girl rejected me 2 years ago, then recently told me she’s open to dating, however, she’s prioritizing school and said she likes me but can’t handle a new relationship now.
